Global Health and Access to Medicines

Access to essential medicines is one of the cornerstones of global health, recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a fundamental human right. Medicines play a vital role in preventing, treating, and managing diseases, yet millions of people around the world still lack access to safe, effective, affordable, and quality assured therapies. The challenge is particularly acute in low and middle income countries (LMICs), where barriers such as high drug costs, weak healthcare infrastructure, and limited research investment continue to restrict availability. The Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research (JPSD) highlights Global Health and Access to Medicines as a pressing issue that directly links pharmaceutical innovation to human well-being. By addressing this challenge, researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders can bridge the gap between drug discovery and equitable healthcare.
